Not only did GN have a line to Moscow, but it was built as an electric line!

The Spokane Coeur d'Alene & Palouse came from Spokane, ran thru Palouse WA, and then thru Viola ID, into Moscow (from the north, as opposed to the NP and UP which come into Moscow from the west). GN bought the line in a bankruptcy proceeding in 1927.
If you look at the Google Maps link that Matt posted, the GN line is north of the wye visible on the map.
After the BN merger, a large wooden trestle near Viola ID was removed, severing it as a thru route, but there was still service to an elevator at Viola, and to the remaining trackage in Moscow.
