A very informative presentation of a lot of railroading crammed into a relative small area. I was in Moscow several years ago and they were in the process of removing the main highway crossing as well as a number of yard tracks leaving what is presently in place.

When there with the speeder group the weekend on July 11th it didn't even look like the same town! We stayed @ the Best Western across from the out-of-service track and drove around a bit looking at the very same trackage as Matt has shown never realizing just how much history was right in front of our eyes.

Being familiar with trackwork and the different "quirks" individual railroads incorporated into their designs it was fairly easy to pick out what was once UP...but the GN and NP was a bit harder to figure out, especially since there are a number of disconnected segments here and there and until following Matts post, didn't really know what had been here.

Again, the old saying "you don't realize what you have until it's gone" certainly applies in Moscow. There's still plenty to see and its not too far off the beaten path.

By the way, just where is the rail joint misaligned in relation to the college campus indicating present "end of track"?
