High Speed Rail and electrification doesn't have to be "disastrous" for frieght services or the communities along the Caltrain line. It's just that the CHSRA is a dysfunctional three ring circus runaway money train. They are pointing to the same wasteful costly and gold plated system on the LA-Anaheim, and have managed to alienate all of the local stakeholders on that end, too.
The need for better rail passenger and high speed rail in our future is an option the public embraces. The fools running the California program are the poster children of arrogant gold plated abuse of the public trust on a grand scale. When is someone going to clean house in this group of contract generating self perpetuating fools, and put some people in charge who can actually deliver an integrated high speed rail passenger system?
