I prefer the grain train photo. The train is clear, there is enough context so it is not just about the train. The vehicle train photo has too much clutter - trees and bushes in front of the train, to be an exceptional shot. It also looks like you used a wide angle lens on that. I'm not too crazy about wide angle train shots. Trains are already so horizontal, the wide angle just exacerbates that.
