The town of Plant City (between Orlando and Tampa) is a good place to watch trains; the ex-ACL and SAL lines cross at grade in front of the restored ACL depot (Now the city chamber of commerce or some such, with the preserved interlocking tower adjacent). The ex-SAL depot a couple of blocks away is still used by CSX MOW forces. Just to the south is the junction of the line to the "Bone Valley" phosphate-mining region. Amtrak trains to/from Tampa pass through on the ex-ACL line without stopping. When I was last there (2007), freight traffic seemed to average slightly better than one train per hour. The Tropicana juice train passes through on the ex-SAL line, but I don't know if it's schedule is predictable.
