Ben - The Trona typically switches the plant complex during the day, and makes the run to Searles in the late afternoon or even during the night. Saturdays can Sundays can be different from that. The UP Lone Pine Local runs out of Mojave generally in the late afternoon, but operations can vary.
Steve - Coal for the cement plants at Monolith, and Oak Creek also comes over the same route and terminates in Mojave. The cars used to supply the two cement plants with coal are the older 100 ton steel hoppers, with many still lettered for the fallen flag roads, CNW, MP, DRGW, etc. The cars destined for Trona are the aluminum hoppers, so its easy to tell the difference between the two. The Wasco coal train runs with BNSF power down the LA&SL with UP crews symboled as the CSKBS. From Barstow to Wasco it runs as the C-BARWSS and returns as the E-WSSBAR. It also has Trinity aluminum hoppers with TILX reporting marks.
