Air? Trains use air to stop?? Trains use air to park, stopping
is done via the dynamics and as to DPU remote use it'll do a
better job of power management on a heavy train but on a light
train with the remotes in dynamics it's sometimes tough to
balance that against the head end dynamics and you're at the
mercy on how the rear end sets up. On a heavy train the tonnage
dampens that and it isn't so much a problem. There was a case
of a UP engineer trainee running the west "A" signal on the
Yolo Causeway and when asked he said that was told to never
use the air to stop.
