If anybody going to San Francisco actually rides SMART, transferring to the Route 101 bus at San Rafael would likely be faster than riding to Larkspur. Walking about a quarter mile to the ferry terminal and riding the ferry to San Francisco makes no sense whatsoever. If a bridge to enable the SMART(?) trains to access the ferry landing were built, commuters might just show up. It worked in Sausalito back when rational people were building transit.
Also the city of Novato in their infinite wisdom decided that a stop at Old Town (downtown Novato) was not a good idea. Did the powers that be ever consider that weekenders might consider downtown Novato a destination, as in there might be money spent thereby enhancing sales tax revenue? A good source of ridership exists a short walk from the non-station in the form of a large condo/apartment complex. Good luck SMART!
