But, er, Solow's big booboo was more than a year ago. The board had been expecting him to learn some kind of lesson all this time, it would appear. So even on that theory, every couple months another train (often with two guys in the cab) runs another red light -- maybe he hasn't learned any lessons after all, is all I can gather.
Also, Solow's background, from my memory (all the links now are about his firing and don't give his bio) is in CITY PLANNING! In other words, the guy was a professional bureaucrat before he became Metrolink CEO. But we gotta give him credit for all his rail experience, huh?
I've got to say that the various operating railroaders who've spoken on this subject make me wonder how the industry survived its hear-death experience 30 years ago, since members of the part-of-the-problem club seem to be around in force.
