Micro-managing a subcontractor is not necessarily bad, but the best client/outsource relationships do involve a very close relationship. Clients who don't hold their outsourcers on a leash are going to find themselves in deep doo-doo quickly. And I speak from the outsourcer point of view (you'd think we'd rather not have a leash at all.)
Changing your demands every 10 seconds and expecting your outsource partner to be able to do that...isn't going to work.
Nit-picking...well that depends. Expecting what you pay for is expected. Complaining about getting what you paid for (and not more) is not good. If Metrolink had to nit-pick because the contractor wasn't doing what was contracted of them, then the subcontractor is at fault.
