Are you sure of the date ??? The consist looks like the one used on a OETM trip in 1967 to inspect the new Espee Palmdale Cutoff. As for the 1st photo location, the lack of double track would limit the shot to somewhere between Cajon siding & Summit, where the tracks are separated. I'm guessing somewhere between Mormon Rocks & Alray on the North ( Eastward ) Track.
