And SacRT is eliminating night/weekend service and cutting back otherwise as of June 20. Saw the articles already on Metrolink cutting Ventura line schedules - they've already done a round of cuts to the other lines and more may be coming.
One cute comment I've seen: what's TOD (transit oriented development) without transit? OD
OTOH, there are several of these models predicting "peak oil" - and none of the credible ones claims precision of less than 10 years or so - so if this one is credible the peak might have already happened or might not happen for another 5 years. Oil also depends to some extent on the price - if we pay more, more will become available because it then makes economic sense to extract the stuff that's harder and more expensive to get to. Though some other articles seen recently suggest that the refineries may not be there to turn the crude into something useful (cut-back production is gradually turning into permanent shutdowns).
