Boy I hope it's just a bad rumor that they don't want the bridge rebuilt. They would have an instant shipper for BNSF traffic in Spokane seed in Colfax if the paper barriers were down. I know that the burned bridge route isn't an ideal route, but it would at least get things started and prove the need for the Oakesdale-Thornton thing. I also understand that there is a group in Colfax that would like to back an excursion between Colfax and Pullman. Also there is interest in taking containerized trash from the landfill near Albion to the dump site in Oregon (off UP), I think hauling up the steep grade out of Colfax would still be cheaper than hauling the stuff all the way around through Oakesdale. I hope the new operators can make a go of it. I hope that Watco hasn't boobie trapped things too much, and I also hope there isn't too much bad advice from so called "consultants" floatin around as well. Time will tell, they really have their work cut out for them as the waters have been pretty well poisoned.
