In 1996 they announced the discontinuance of the Pioneer and Desert Wind and so I booked myself on a journey. Starlate from San Jose to Seattle, Pioneer from Seattle to Denver, Desert Wind from Denver to LA and Starlate back to San Jose. I think it took 6 days. While on the Pioneer they made the announcement that it would be extended until May of '97 and the whole crew went crazy with joy, hoping that the extension would be permanent. It wasn't. But it was a great trip.
