These GP20D's are not "genset" locomotives in the term we have come to know "genset" by. Genset generally describes a locomotive with 1-3 modular truck engines coupled to a generator that come on line based on load demand. These GP20D's feature a single large Cat 12 cylinder engine that functions in a similar fashion to any GE or EMD road switcher.
