The reason there are no microphones to go along with these cameras in the locomotives is that there are decades old laws regarding them. These laws arose because of abuses by the Gestapo (Secret State Police) during the Nazi era. The reaction against this went so far that for a long time after the war it was against the law in Germany to have an second telephone in your house because someone might invade your privacy by eavesdroping on it.
Because of the immigration law hub-bub, already police in Arizona are hassling out of state drivers, even when they're free, white, and 65 years old, driving a new Dodge Ram. I know this guy who runs private cars. The last time he went to Mexico the Migras denied him re-entry into the US. The guy was born here, lived all his life here, and has a valid US passport. He's even an ex-cop. His papers are in order, but they refuse to tell him why he was denied re-entry. Sounds like the Gestapo reanimated to me.
How do you keep the chicken-littles of the world from abusing the system? If you get on a no fly list, how do you find out why or correct the error when they won't talk to you about it? Presumed guilty, which is a violation of all the principles of our Constitution. As the Phantom Brake man said, "whose going to watch the watchers"?
Fortunately, for now there are laws against having cameras in restrooms.
