Couple of things re:2921. The late Frank Cottle,SR, once regailed me with his plan to pull it out of the park and operate it, presumably, over the M&ET.

When the new Modesto Amtrak station was either in the planning or construction stages, thru some forgotten means, I thought there was a plan to put it on display near that depot.

If anyone in California is serious about restoring a Santa Fe 4-8-4, the one currently in the possession of the California State Railroad Museum and Scrapyard would seem a far better candidate.
