Despite the eyesore of today its sad at the passing of such a place. It was my door to San Francisco in the 1950's and riding the Key was one of the things that made me a lifelong railfan. Who can forget the roar in waiting area downstairs through the concrete and steel. But you had to check your watch and the felt board or miss your train. The crush of sailors and soldiers from TI and Oakland.....I used to be one of those obnoxious kids who ran up to the front to get the "fireman's" seat. One conductor grabbed me by the shirt and dragged me back to the farebox for a lecture in Oakland. But that's all 50+ years in the past.
