Top speed on the bridge was 35 mph. I once read that the bay bridge trains has a cab signal system, sophisticated that era. Depending on traffic in front of them, they'd get an indication in the cab for which speed to run. There were various fixed speeds like 35, 28, 22, 17, or something like that.

Someone once told me that when the Key System was abandoned in 1958 there was consideration to extending the Muni PCC streetcars over the bridge to the East Bay. Is this true?
