Don't hold me to this, but I think that the UP dispatcher controls this crossing and the BNSF trains call him to get permission to cross. Pretty sure the UP trains don't stop. When I first visited Grand Jct in 1955 there were no gates there. Might have been some earlier. There used to be 3 rail lines crossing there but the MILW line was abandoned in 1975.
