I guess sooner or later(can we hope for this year?)there will be a freight on the NCRA-NWP. Legal efforts to block the resumption of service serve no purpose. Time to find out if there are any shippers.

SMART is a very poorly conceived scheme which will probably have to be bailed out by Golden Gate Transit not far down the road. I see it as strictly transitional, but real rail mass transit in the Northbay is decades away. Meantime there is very little subsidy money for even minimal bus service.

As far as the hsr is concerned I do favor "kill the train" and start over. The Palmdale detour needs to go.
