1005 is quite close to operation. Hopefully a couple of trips this Members' Day, but that could change. As to regular use, it will need a complete rebuild of its resistor grids first, they're held together with bailing wire in places.

In case you haven't seen it, there is a video of the SN 1005 rollout.

> Would it ever, even just for test purposes be run at full speed?

Probably not, we are restricted to 30 mph maximum by the FRA. We know it runs, what is there to test? I'd hate to put a $250,000 (and 11-year) restoration on the ground just for fun...

> Are four car trains ever run or will be run?

Once MU wiring is completed on OA&E 1020, we could possibly run three cars (1005, 1020, and SL&U 751), but that's about it right now. I think for four cars we would need another motor in the consist.

It would be a great museum demonstration to also have the Bidwell running - that would be a real SN mainline train, but it's missing so much equipment that it's years in the future.

> How far south of Vista Grande are poles in place? and wire installed?

Poles and messenger wire to Bird's Landing Road. We need a substation to run any further than Gum Grove, right now the voltage at end of wire is less than 200 volts.

> Is any kind of equipment ever run to Molena?

Just speeders and our weed spray contractor's hi-railer. The trestle needs rebuilding for anything larger, and also lots of new ties.

> Is the track such that anything can go as far as Montezuma?

No, there is a burned-out trestle.

The track north of the Museum is excepted track, and we can't legally take passengers on it. It needs lots of work, and our track crew is fully occupied keeping the electrified portion running. If we ever get personnel and/or money to rebuild to Dozier (or even Cannon), then future electrification certainly would be an option if yet more money were available.
