There was a Philadelphia Company involved in transportation. Since 1902, it was a holding company which owned the Pittsburgh Railways systems along with a couple of utility companies. In the 1940s or 1950s, it was forced to divest its transit & utility holdings in Pittsburgh.
I, too, am a huge fan of the Reading Market.

Inside the entrance to the Philadelphia Convention Center is an information kiosk commemorating the Reading.
