IMHO, this first Mapquest aerial photo quite possibly shows the location. However, in the photo that appears on the 1967 WP timetable, I would think the alluvial fan jutting out into the river would be shown, unless, of course, it wasn't as prominent when the photo was taken. Also, notice in the photo from the timetable that the dome car closest to the camera appears to be crossing another bridge, or at least a concrete abutment of some sort. This tidbit makes me think it MIGHT be at a location a little further west. Observe:

In this scene, perhaps the photographer was standing next to that longer bridge shown at the bottom of the aerial photo, a portion of which is shown in the timetable photo.

Then again, maybe my friend was right and the location where these publicity photos were taken is somewhere at the bottom of Lake Oroville!
