I worked at Aerojet for 8 years. I left in July, 2009 and all spurs entering the facility were still intact. A few years ago, someone from UP met with Aerojet officials. One of the topics for discussion was having UP haul away the buildings that Aerojet would eventually demolish. The UP official told me that they wanted to re-configure the siding so that it entered Aerojet prior to Hazel Av and have the siding laid (I'm guessing temporarily) across Nimbus Rd (Aerojet property. Caltrans supposedly told Aerojet that they didn't want truckloads of concrete traveling on the highways to dumpsite in Nevada or Utah, so the alternative was rail. Of course I don't know how that would square with the light freight rail and 10mph speed limit currently in place on this branch.
