Standing too close

Several comments were made to the effect that the Central Avenue derailment in New Orleans gave some food for thought about standing too close to moving traffic.

When I was a young man (14) shooting my first track side photos, a yard clerk approached me rather directly with a black steel band in his hand. He made a movement across his throat, and told me I would never see the band of steel that would decapitate me!

Now he may have been a little "over the top." But he made his point. On more than one occasion I can recall dunnage and junk hanging out of box car doors.

I would encourage you to look at the video in one of my blog articles, taken by a young man in Brazil. This would give a BNSF Agent a heart attack. It is the first video in the article:
