We have 22 carousels of Kodachrome slides dating from the late '50's to the 80's. We just spent a zillion dollars having them put on CD's at Costco and were amazed at how well the colors have held up. Very few were faded. I have a whole box of slides from my parent's trips to Hawaii in the '60's and all of them are in good condition. Aside from being in carousels or specific slide boxes/cases, they received no special attention and were mostly housed in the garage.

PS--I too saw the CBS piece this morning and thought it wonderfully well done, including the final shot taken of the Parsons Cemetery as fitting tribute.
