Yes, Dick, the SP & S proper did have Automatic Block Signals (ABS ). The Oregon Trunk also has them, at least North of Bend, although BNSF has been replacing them with new Tri - color signals. As of last summer, both ends of Redmond, OR siding had new signals installed, but with the heads turned away. The classic US & S Searchlight signals are going away; get your pictures now.
