Here's another line I wish I'd ridden in Mexico. The Cuernavaca-Apipilulco line was recently discussed on another website. It lasted until 1997 and passed through this rugged canyon a few miles north of the town of Iguala. Check GOOGLE aerial photos to see what a difficult area this was in trying to build a railroad. Here's some photos of an S-shaped bridge in the canyon. Everything had to be on a bridge at this location because the canyon walls were too steep to try and place the railroad there. This same line had a spectacular segment as it climbed out of Mexico City, but that portion became freight-only several decades ago.
