The choice of Tejon is a better route, even if it runs via Palmdale-Lancaster. It is still shorter, faster, and would require a longer set of tunnels, but with less mountainous engineering, unlike the longer, slower, and more costly "contractor" promoted and proposed Tehachipi route. The runaway money train just rolls on without stopping, with lousy planning, costly alternatives, failed business plans, flunking peer reviews, and spending taxpayers dollars just having a good old time.
The CHSRA Board continues to be a dysfunctional little group of second rate political cronies and hacks, who continue to back and encourage incompetence, waste, possible fraud, and a total lack of oversight or cost control. The CHSRA seems to be run by and for for the contractor's, benefit without any oversight or responsibility to the taxpayers. All of the current CHSRA Board should be asked to resign, so new members, responsible to the taxpayer can be appointed. If they refuse, the Legislature must pass CHSRA reform legislation to reorganize the CHSRA to bring accountability to the taxpayer.
I support high speed rail, but without real reform, this boondoggle will soon crash and burn, leaving us without anything real.
