Excellent point. My contacts in timber say that they don't need the railroad.
I saw a recent article that said that shipping logs to China is starting to be important for Humboldt Bay - about one shipload per month. Maybe the railroad from Scotia to Eureka could be used to feed logs to the port, but going south by rail isn't worth it.
