more info on this fascinating northbound
Amtrak special: as of 9:30 pm PDST, it was
stopped near Castroville (CA), with a "UDE".
That, for the non-rails, is an UnDesired Emergency
brake application. Last I heard, they were talking
to the DS, and needed some help from the
Mechanical Dept.

We were waiting for it in Alviso, just north of
San jose, CA, and never saw it. Didn't want to
wait til 1 or 2 am, when I thought it might finally
show up, so we bailed around 10 pm and went home.
(Guess we are just not hard-core enough! LOL)

We did see #14, which had the Silver Solarium on
the rear. That is a former CZ obs.
