Well, maybe "chosen" isn't exactly the right term. That's the type of stick-on lettering that a lot of the ex-MoP units received when they were first repainted at North Little Rock in UP colors after the merger. A lot of GP15-1s and GP38-2s still have that lettering.

Maybe. Remember their numbers, by chance? 1500's? 1600's?
Do you think the non-turbo units were an RCL job that was just handling the other units? Most of the yard jobs in Oakland now need two units instead of just a single unit, as it's been hard to find a good-running RCL recently. There's a two unit set of GP15-1's currently operating in Oakland, the Y587 and the Y684, of which the Y587 has the squared-off lettering.
