Mike Flanigon (ex-SP) is the lead investigator. He's very experienced and I'm sure he'll do a good job. I'll be interested in reading his findings regarding why the alertor didn't stop the train.

Photos of the cab interior indicate this was not a survivable impact even at 23 MPH, due to the nature of the equipment that was struck (it over-rode the cab of the striking locomotive).
