Bakersfield BNSF had a 7 days on and 3 off rest cycle gurantee pay on pool freight, had never run out of crews because of it, and the pay cut was not significant enough to cause people to bid off. It was freakin' GREAT! I made money, the pools were regulated tighter, and even the lineups were better.

BNSF abolished the board because they cried about how much guarantee they were paying out, yet even though the local chairmen told them they could trim a few turns off and still make it work AND save the carrier gurantee money, the BNSF still cut it anyway. Now it's back to the same old crap they were crying about all along- no crews on the weekends, crews laying off sick when they've been at home and stand to get out on their rest, etc.

We've also suggested a Continuous Time deadhead to the AFHT and work back, based on Barstow's lineup projections, but the carrrier doesn't want to pay for 'rubber tire miles'...even though they deadhead crews over for rest two to three times a week!
