Talking to some of my family who live in northern Marin there appears to be an active program to spread disinformation about NWP/SMART. Some residents claim to have been assured that NWP plans to run 100-car freights of hazardous/toxic materials through their town at all hours. All downtown intersections could be blocked for 15 mins to 1/2 an hour. Huge diesel locomotives will kill or maime scores of pedestrians. I know that all this sounds incredible to anyone with an ounce of intelligence but this is what many residents have been told and believe. No you will not read this in the papers but you hear it all over town where people gather. I have to suspect that someone is deliberately spreading these myths to kill off NWP and SMART.
