Now, for more mousy musings, informing me all about the economics of a liquidity trap, and the effects of this on HSR? I had not expected this brief treatise on the effect of quantitative monetary easing on the IS/LM curve intercept on this site? The quantity and quality of some of these goofier side threads are entertaining and really quite amusing this week.

Obviously, the troll ratio is way up this week, thus, "discussions" of real Railroad topics are enjoying the summer doldrums..... while the real train loving folks are actually out chasing and riding some real trains.... I hope!

I think that the last entry is about right, but, the CHSRA conroversy isn't really about the legality of condemnation for a public use, that is not really in question.

This latest issue is just another offshoot of the mismanagement of the CHSRA, its incompetent unreadiness to undertake the HSR enterprise, and the poor choices this dysfunctional agency has made, which continues to lead to these costly, unnecessary, and wasteful fights.

State reform legislation is coming to the CHSRA.

Unfortunately the reforms proposed will not have come soon enough to have prevented the previous waste of millions in goofy. bloated, and useless planning. And now, those repeated failures at the CHSRA may result in the impending loss of hundreds of millions of dollars in ARRA funds. This is because the CHSRA continues to have no real ability to get this project started in the time left to use these funds, before they lapse.

It is a real shame, as those funds we've already wasted at CHSRA, and those we are about to lose, could have gone a long way toward faster, more frequent and safer rail passenger services, put tens of thousands of unemployed Californian's back to work, and relieved a little congestion on our overcrowded interurban freeways.
