Observer,
To answer your question, each one of these Dispachers handles a segment of R.R. The UP Terminal Dispather at Proviso Yard Handles the Rockwell Subdivision and the Geneva Subdivision from Chicago to Park, just east of Elmhurst. Omaha Dispatcher 11 handles from there to Meredith, and the Belvidere Subdivision. Omaha Dispatcher 12 handles from Meredith to Fairfax Iowa and the Troy Grove Subdivision. Omaha Dispatcher 19 handles from Fairfax to Missouri Valley Iowa. Also, as info., on the UP, there are no "DS"s, it is plain old Dispathcer or, from the old SP days, the "D". The initials DS are a BNSF thing, something that is not used on UP. As far as BNSF goes, I am told that in the old days of ATSF and the Telegraph, when you coded, "DS" on it, you were calling the Dispatcher. This info. from Pete Pedersen, retired AT&SF wire chief. Is SRK's first name Scott? If so, you are right, he is real good, but in my book, Michelle Chance, is the best. She sounds like she is in her mid 20's, but in reality, she is in her mid 50's, but doesn't look or sound it. Hope this info. is helpful for you.
