Folks, please lets have some compassion here. A young girl has had her life tragically changed. Yes she made a mistake and will pay for it for the rest of her life.
Also, it is an urban myth that lawsuits inevitably follow this kind of incident. I live in California near the "Capitol Corridor" (San Jose-Sacramento). It has a high incidence of trespassers, mostly young people, being killed or maimed since it runs through a heavily residential area. With all those incidents you would think it would be deluged with lawsuits. Not so. Few lawyers would even agree to take the case and then only to try and recoup medical expenses. Also, the media often reports the filing of a suit but usually misses the dismissal several months later.
On the meantime, pray for this girl and her family.
