Valley Junction Wye Question

I have noticed that according to maps that there aparently was a wye just to the immediate west (south) side of the Barstow Amtrak station yet current satelitte imagery indicates that this wye is no longer there as the line that connects it as well. But still yet on the west (south) side of the BNSF Barstow Classification Yard there is the impressive sized Valley Junction wye. Was the east-west Barstow to Mojave rail line route ever relocated in a certain amout of mileage between these points inclusive of a new wye to connect the BNSF transcon line with the Barstow to Mojave line?
Are there unusual aspects to the Valley Junction wye unlike other railroad wyes as it appears unusually large in size and has criss-crossed trackage on it from satellite photos?
Are both these wye locations in Barstow accessable by road?
When were these wyes constructed?
By the way are there any impressive overlook locations in Barstow to see sections of both lines?
Such a public viewing area for the BNSF Barstow Classification yard? Does one still exist?
Also, does Amtrak's Southwest Chief ever still use the BNSF Barstow to Mojave rail line for detours?
