While the hungry "Bakersfield Crews" were ordering away, those on the longer "Yuma District" were only occasionaly offered the option of stopping their trains at the double main (D-251) at Indio and buyng their own food at Denny's. Asking a train to do a little work along the way such as picking up a repaired bad order would almost automatically result in a request to stop at Indio. If any trains were closer than 30 or 40 minutes behind, the request would be denied, the crew would complain and the dispatcher would make a notation on the back of the train sheet, presumably to address any future grievance.
