By the end of WWII, Douglas had facilities at Santa Monica, El Segundo, Long Beach, and Torrance, California. These were all aircraft plants with the Torrance plant not having an air strip making mainly subassemblies. If they made munitions, they were probably armed with explosives at an arsinal.
Santa Monica priced the original plant out of Clover Field. The Northrop Grumman now occupies the El Segundo plant(which before that was an early Northrop plant before he moved to his first indepenantly owned plant in Hawthorne). Now Boeing, Long Beach has shrunk with the only(maybe last) program there being C-17 production. Torrance closed and is now a mix of retail and distribution.
