Don't be afraid of the complexities of a DSLR. They are as complex or simple as you wish. Simple: ISO200; shutter priority = 1/500 min. AF ON. RAW + L JPG. Thats it.

The Canon T2i and kit is a fine rig. The glass is good IQ, but the build may ultimately get questionable. Get good glass. Thats the key.
