My first ship had Detroit Diesels, built in 1954. My second ship had Fairbanks-Morse. She was built in 1979. My third ship, built in 2001 had Cats, My forth ship had MTU's, built in 2005, and my current ship, built in 1969 has ALCO's. The Coast Guard (my service) seems to be favoring the MTU's in the last couple of classes of ship built, even though they are German. It would also seem that some of the ship's on the drawing board will likely have MTU's as well.
