Back when LAUPT was in the planning stages, Espee, Santa Fe & EwePee all wanted a through - trackage station plan. No dice, said the City. So now after 70+ years of success using a stub - ended facility, is it really necessary to build through tracks out the South end of the depot ??? And at what cost ??? I understand the train counts are way up over even the glory days of the late 1940's; however with all Metrolink & most Amtrak trains running push - pull using cab cars this plan would seem to be unneeded.
