As to continued use of coal trains, that depends on continued use of industrial mechanization, which some would banish. But even then, that would still depend upon continued use of coal, as well as natural gas, fuel oil, hydro power, or even wind or solar power. But try to get any of these built in the current political climate - good luck with any of them! And all this politicized BOLAGNA imposed, based upon widely disputed claims of some! All with big axes to grind. - - - - The DARK AGES here we come!
Now - no scientist I know of disputes that many climates are changing, and that the far northern hemisphere appears to be getting warmer. But then there are contra-indicators going on all over as well, such as cooler ocean currents coming out of Alaska (Go - Figure!). And while the temperate zone's diurnal lows are also getting warmer in some parts, the world average highs are nevertheless getting slightly cooler (at least over the last decade or so). In other words, average temperatures in the temperate zone are in fact moderating in both directions at the same time. Most of the significant change is in polar regions - north getting warmer and the south cooler (Not in actual temperature - but in latent BTUs.
However, what IS in wide dispute; is that there is any credible "doomsday" scenario involved here; whether increased CO is the cause of warming, or whether warming is the cause of increased CO2 levels (that dispute is huge). Also in deep dispute, is the notion that Mother Earth's ability to maintain equilibrium does not far exceed puny man's ability to disturb it.
Moreover, higher concentrations in the atmosphere of so-called greenhouse gases such as CO2, and water vapor (especially), and more moderate temperatures over more of the Earth's surface; may well be highly beneficial to life on Earth.
So will the polar ice cap melt in the next few hundred years? Maybe! Will it be inconvenient if the sea level rises because of that? Maybe! Or is that even a credible doomsday scenario? -- Likely not!
There is great controversy in the science world over all of that. Fact is - contrary to what the media or public educators would have us believe; science is not a monolithic entity - not even close. It is indeed as fractured, as is the religious world. And yes - many in either world don't really "know" the real "truth" of anything.
Contrary to media reporting, there is in fact - no such thing as "scientific consensus" on anything. It's impossible! So when someone (usually a politician or a pundit) claims a "consensus", it should trigger everyone's BS alarms loudly! Scientific "fact", to the extent there even is such a thing, comes by well controlled repeatable experiments - NOT by opinions, nor by status of the speaker, nor by voting on it - just by many scientists repeating experiments over and over.
So show me those well controlled experiments repeated by many!
OH! There aren't any - Thus I remain skeptical.
It is really too bad that all you and I will ever hear about (unless you really dig for it) - are the "opinions" that agree with the ruling elite! -- For obvious reasons, given their lust to tell everybody else what they can and cannot do!
