Looks like the ex-SP depot in Sanderson, TX, will be demolished soon.

Sanderson was one of two places (Carlin, NV, being the other) that SP threatend to send new Road Foreman of Engines to when they were first promoted, as a way of endoctrinating them into the world of railroad management.
My most memorable experience with Sanderson was in April of 1972. SP still had a small yard and engine facility there at the time, and one day there was something sitting on the engine track that didn't look "right." Turned out to be F7A 6349, which was still in "Black Widow" colors. Now, it was common for retired units to move dead through Sanderson on their way to EMD or GE as trade-ins, but the 6349 was
running! It was a looong way from home in Roseville, and apparently its trip to West Texas didn't do much for it, as it was retired the following month.
