It wasn't just the 3208 that had backward transition issues. Others had it from time to time. The usual excuse given was that being run in Parallel all week on the commutes whacked up the unit's ability to make the Parallel to Series transfer. There was a way around it if one know what to do, but the Mechanical Department would have kittens about it if they found out.
