There is a wye at Lathrop, and yes, it involves a backup move to head over to the Altamont line.

I followed on my GPS and honestly, I was totally confused. I watched as we moved and I still don't understand how it worked. If it was light out and I could see out the windows, it would have been easier---but with it dark out, I just couldn't figure out what we were doing.
