When I took the detour earlier this month it was as follows:

1) enter the wye from the Fresno sub towards the Tracy sub
2) back up facing to the main facing Fresno, rear towards Stockton
3) forward towards Fresno, taking the connection to the Altamont line towards Niles

The whole process once started took about 15 minutes, however, we waited 40 minutes to start the process for a local switching and blocking the wye.
